Mural Project Update

Our Art Journal and Creative Toolbox Project came to an end in October last year, and now our amazing participants have moved on to the Graduate Programme. Our Graduates have access to a bespoke programme that supports further creative development across separate projects, with the key themes of ‘Confidence Building’, ‘Raising Ambitions’ and ‘New Horizons’.

The Graduate Project supports participants to expand their practise, connect art and place, and explore creative enterprise through the Autumn and Winter months, with participants having access to collective and individual guidance, coaching and mentoring to identify long-term goals and form sustainable wellbeing strategies – nurturing both their personal and professional development.

One of the projects for this year’s Graduate Programme has a Public Art focus, and our participants have been working with artist Katie Anderson to design a mural. Katie is an artist based in D&G whose creative practice is interested in the role that artists and creative actions can play in activating spaces, energising those involved in its production and inspiring new ways of approaching challenging conversations or experimental ideas. We have previously worked with Katie on last year’s mural project which was a huge success and a wonderful project – you can read more about it by clicking here.

Katie and our Graduates kicked off the public art programme with a Zoom info session, followed by some in-person workshops. The programme continues into March 2025 with a series of monthly workshops working with experienced artists from around the region to focus on different creative elements that can be added to the project, including mosaics, ceramics and design, concluding in March with a production week where they will make the final artworks together!
