Guided by Liz McQueen (OutPost Arts’ Adult Creative Wellbeing Lead) and Peer Mentors – 30 adults take part in a 16-week programme of arts activities. It ends in a large-scale public exhibition sharing the participant’s creative wellbeing journeys.
What’s involved?
The project kicks off on Saturday April 20th with an in-person welcome session where you’ll meet the team and your fellow participants, and receive a free package of materials.
The programme consists of two x eight week blocks of online workshops. The project includes creative group trips (last year Glasgow & Kirkcudbright) and all day in-person workshops at the half-way point and the end of Block 2. Participants will have access to a transport bursary to support transportation to in-person workshops if you face barriers.
Art Journal Project promotes positive mental health and enhances wellbeing through positive distraction, the development of self-care tools, creative learning, and access to social opportunities. The project provides a supportive and safe space for creative discovery and exploration. The programme is designed to support people with all levels of creative skills – you do not need any art experience to participate.
A person-centred counsellor is embedded in the programme. This supports the emotional safety of the participants and team. You will have access to a free 1-2-1 counselling session as part of the project (this is entirely voluntary).
