GRADUATE PROGRAMME
BACKGROUND
Art Journal Project and Creative Toolbox Graduates have access to a bespoke programme that supports further creative development across two separate projects.
With the key themes of ‘Confidence Building’, ‘Raising Ambitions’ and ‘New Horizons’, the Graduate Programme supports participants to expand their practise, connect art and place and explore creative enterprise.
Through Autumn & Winter each year, participants have access to collective and individual guidance, coaching and mentoring to identify long-term goals and form sustainable wellbeing strategies – nurturing both their personal and professional development.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
OutPost Arts partners with Upland CIC to provide Art Journal Project graduates with opportunities to collaborate as a creative collective in showcasing and selling their work. This initiative allows graduates to gain experience in presenting their artwork within a professional setting.
A group of adult and youth graduates develop and sell a selection of original products, such as prints, greeting cards and badges. In preparation, they receive guidance from experienced artists and creative professionals, helping them refine their design skills and deepen their understanding of commercial art practices.
Beyond this, graduates have the chance to identify their individual ambitions and work with arts professionals to support their personal and creative development. Opportunities for leadership growth is also available, including the potential to take on mentorship roles and support future participants.

MURAL PROJECT
Our Community Creative Wellbeing and Art in Healthcare teams collaborate to bring an exciting public art project to life.
As part of the Graduate Programme, a group of youth and adult participants work with an associate artist and a healthcare participation lead to design a mural art installation in a community healthcare setting. The project involves engaging with staff and service users to co-design the mural, ensuring it enhances the space and creates a more welcoming environment.
This initiative empowers participants by giving them a sense of ownership over the space while encouraging them to expand their creative ambitions and artistic practices – literally thinking BIG!
The lead artist facilitates a series of workshops and planning sessions, with the final artwork unveiled in a public launch and celebration.

UPLAND MADE
Previously, we have collaborated with Upland to support a vibrant visual arts and craft fair. As part of the event, the Art Journal Project and Creative Toolbox Graduates hosted a stall, providing them with the opportunity to showcase and sell their work, including postcards, badges, prints and original artwork.
This experience allowed participants to engage with the public, gain confidence in presenting their creations and explore the commercial aspects of their artistic practice.
