Introducing the 2025 Art Journal Project and Creative Toolbox

This April, creativity and community came together at The Bridge in Dumfries for the official launch of the 2025 Art Journal Project and Creative Toolbox. The joint event welcomed participants from both programmes, each designed to support creative expression and wellbeing in unique and age-specific ways.

Attendees were introduced to their journeys with an in-person session, where they connected with facilitators, met fellow participants and received a free set of art materials to kickstart their personal explorations.

Looking ahead, both programmes will offer enriching experiences including group excursions, focused creative workshops and the opportunity to access one-on-one counselling, all contributing to a holistic approach to personal and creative development.

Art Journal Project

Spearheaded by Liz McQueen, OutPost Arts’ Adult Creative Wellbeing Lead, and supported by Peer Mentors, the 2025 Art Journal Project invites thirty adults to embark on a 16-week creative journey. This initiative focuses on enhancing mental wellbeing through regular arts-based activities and reflection.

Participants will ultimately present their personal narratives and creative growth in a public exhibition, a celebration of transformation through art.

Creative Toolbox

Designed for young people navigating challenges such as low confidence or mental health concerns, the Creative Toolbox programme offers an inspiring space to explore storytelling through diverse art forms.

Led by Georgia Blue Ireland, Creative Toolbox is now in motion for 2025 and the initiative is helping participants expand their creativity, discover new possibilities and connect with future opportunities. With workshops facilitated by professional artists from across Dumfries & Galloway and beyond, the sessions aim to motivate, empower and inspire.

The journey will conclude with a special showcase event where the young creatives can share their work and experiences with others.
