Background

An open, accessible programme taking place each year from early Autumn to late Winter, allowing adults from across D&G to sample a broad spectrum of creative wellbeing activities, connect with supportive networks, develop wellbeing tools/techniques, and build skills/knowledge via workshops and events.

OutPost Arts are working in partnership with a range of organisations to deliver a wide range of Satellite Programme activities and events across Dumfries & Galloway from November 2023 – March 2024. Activities will include a participatory programme featuring visual arts, crafts, performance, and creative writing. Artist talks, demonstrations and network events will create opportunities for people to gather, grow skills, deepen understandings around creative wellbeing, and share ideas.

Launching the Satellite programme, OutPost Arts has collaborated with Upland CIC to develop ‘made WELL’ – an initiative that aims to underline the important connection between making and wellbeing – enhancing the annual ‘Upland Made’ craft fair event on 4-5th November at Easterbrook Hall (Crichton Campus) with a creative wellbeing programme.

We were delighted to work in partnership with Upland to support the annual Upland Made Visual Arts & Craft Fair. The event took place at Easterbrook Hall in Dumfries in November 2023. The event included a special creative wellbeing space, made WELL, supported by DG Creative Wellbeing. This was a new initiative with the aim of underlining the clear connections between making and wellbeing.

Visitors to the space were able to participate in demonstrations run by some of the exhibitors. There was a range of mindful and engaging activities, and it provided a family-friendly place to relax and recharge. Sessions included calligraphy, mindful embroidery, seasonal card-making, meditative wood chiselling and more.
